Weideman Hangs On To Win Season’s Final Race At
Homestead
Homestead-Miami, Fl. –
Jeremy Weideman finished out the season in style by
taking the win at the season’s final race in Homestead-Miami Florida.
Weideman used pit strategy to get the lead then rolled the dice on a late
race caution and stayed out on old tires as the rest of the field came
and got fresh rubber. Weideman was able to hold off the field to get the
win. Jeff Sykes won the pole with a lap of 28.434 but was involved in a
crash with 2 laps remaining in the race. Sykes had one of the strongest cars
in field as he led the most laps with a total of 43. Danny Sanchez may
have had the car to beat but was also involved in the same crash as Sykes
when Sanchez and Weideman touched getting into turn 1. The 2009 overall
and Chase Champion keith Mclain had a bad day crashing out early in the
race when he and Horace Brooksmade contact on the front stretch. Reigning Champion Brooks had a
good car but faded late after making contact with the wall. The league
finished the season in style as the drivers showed great spirit and
adillity in the last race. The race had only 4 cautions for 12 laps.
Following Weideman across the finish
line was Greg Foslien in 2nd, Patrick McDaniel in 3rd,
David gibson in 4th, and David Preston in 5th.The
league takes a break before winter testing begins. Be sure to check often
for signups to open for the 2009 season.-----More

Mclain Clinches Wih Victory At Phoenix
Phoenix, Az. –
Keith Mclain clinched his second STRL Championship by
dominating the race at Phoenix. Mclain led 76 of the 141 laps and most of
those was after the half way point of the race. Mclain started on the
pole and led early loosing the lead during the first yellow flag when he
optted to pit for fresh Goodyear’s. Jeremy Weideman took over the leaad
and seemed to have a car that could challeneg Mclain. Weideman’s night
went south when he was caught in the pits when a yellow flag came out
during green flag pitstops. That basicly sealed the deal for Mclain who
would lead the rest of the race and never be challenged again. Horace
Brooks who came into the race week in second place could not attend the
event as his father was hurt in an accident. The entire league sends our
well wishes the Brooks family and hope for a speedy recovery for the
Horace’s father. The league heads south to Miami-Homestead next week for
the last race of the season.----More

Two Tires Pays Off For Mclain
Martinsville, Va. –
When the caution flew with 55
laps remaining Keith Mclain knew he had to try something to get track
position. Rolling the dice Mclain opted for 2 tires and came out of the
pits in second place. After the race went back green he used the help of
lapped traffic to get the lead away from Chris Hughson and held off the
lighting fast Mike Hall as the race went green the final 50 laps to get
the win at Martinsville. The race saw 10 yellows but most were for self
spins as the drivers continued to prove why STRL is one of the best
leagues running. Horace Brooks won the pole and missed leading the most
laps by only 1 lap. Following Mclain and Hall across the finish line was
Horace Brooks in third, David Preston in fourth, and Chris Hughson in
fifth. Mclain increased his Chase point’s lead back out to 149 over
Horace Brooks in second and 185 over Jeff Sykes in third after having a
bad race at Atlanta last week. The league goes to Texas next week for
what will surely be a very fast race.----More
