Introduction

In recent months, alot of buzz has traveled around the sim racing community about EA Games developing a new Nascar game, exclusively for the PC sim racing fans. This news has been met with a strong mix of both optimism and skepticism among the hardcore racing crowd. The past titles in EA Games Nascar library have appealed more to the mass market casual and console gamers, and left the PC sim racers with little to cheer about.

EA Games was kind enough to invite some members of the sim racing community out to their headquarters in Redwood City, CA for the Nascar Sim Racing Community Day. The events were to include a tour of the EA Campus, a presentation of the new title by the Producer, James Hawkins, playtesting and evaluation of the game, go kart racing, and an exclusive interview with the producer.

In attendance were Nathan Fahrenthold, Senior Community Manager for EA Games, James Hawkins, Nascar Sim Racing Producer, Jenee Cline from EA Sports Online, Randy Magruder, racing writer for IGN and other news sites, Tom Sullivan, 2004 ORCA Cup Champ, Jerry Watson, Dan Bertholomey, Joe Lomas, admin of OnlineRacin.com, Ben Jones, press from Gamespot and 1Up, and several other EA staffers.
